HELLENISTIC TANAGRA TERRACOTTA HEAD OF WOMAN
Ca. 200 - 100 BC A hollow Hellenistic Tanagra terracotta of an elegant female head, perhaps a goddess. Her face features recessed almond-shaped eyes, a slender nose, full lips, and ring-adorned ears, all beneath a centrally-parted coiffure. The figure's diadem features lunar symbols. The pale-orange ground of the figure is accentuated by layers of chalky white and an orange-red pigment which fills the recesses of her hair.
