ETRUSCAN IRON LEAF-SHAPED SPEARHEAD
Ca. 550 BC An Etruscan iron spearhead with a slight ridge and an open socket. The Etruscans utilised spears, known as hasta or hastae in Latin, in close Hoplite phalanx formations, a tactical strategy inherited from the Greek era. This form of warfare was effectively employed by the Etruscans in the early period, particularly against the Romans and other tribes in Italy.
