EGYPTIAN FAIENCE USHABTI WITH HIEROGLYPHIC INSCRIPTION
Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BCAn Egyptian mold-formed faience ushabti covered in lustrous layers of pale green-hued glaze. The ushabti stands in mummiform posture atop an integral rectangular plinth. In the hands there is the symbolic pick and hoe and a seed bag incised behind the left shoulder. The narrow countenance features almond-shaped eyes, a prominent nose, a false beard, and cupped ears beneath a simple tripartite wig. On the central part of the legs is a long hieroglyphic inscription.
