EGYPTIAN STEATITE SCARAB WITH STYLISED SCROLL BORDER
Second IntermediatePeriod / Hyksos period, Ca. 1700 - 1550 BCAn Egyptian Second IntermediatePeriod / Hyksos period hand-carved steatite scarab. It has a scroll border and a luck sign (the glyph Sa for “protection”) is carved on its base. Its back depicts the natural back of the scarab beetle with an additional design of antenne-like features. For similar see: MET Museum Accession Number: 22.1.311. Studied by PD Dr. habil.
