ROMAN BRONZE STATUETTE OF MERCURY
Ca. AD 100 - 300A Roman bronze cast figurine depicting a standing youthful god of commerce, Mercury in Roman mythology, Hermes in Greek mythology. This god holds his attributes and is crowned with a diadem. This depiction is an early example, one that prefigured more Hellenistic-influenced portrayals. Instead, this figure displays a more abstract, archaic representation of the figure's anatomy and face. While the figurine may be small, near miniature in fact, it has iconography with Mercury depicting several of his attributes.
