BYZANTINE BRONZE CROSS SHAPED ENKOLPION
Ca. AD 1000 - 1200A Byzantine bronze engraved enkolpion depicting the crucified Christ. He is wearing a long robe decorated with geometric motif; the facial features are stylised and the head is surrounded by a large aureole. The main figure is surmounted with an inscription with greek letters. A large hinge connects the two halves of the Enkolpion.
