SELJUK SILVER BRACELET WITH STYLISED KUFIC INSCRIPTIONS
Ca. AD 1000 - 1300A silver Seljuk penannular bracelet with a central ridge with two opposing decorated panels on the sides, each with a stylised central motif of kufic inscriptions, an inscription in the middle of each side and a stylised rosette on the borders. Jewellery production in the Seljuk era was a highly specialised craft, with skilled artisans using a variety of techniques to create stunning pieces of metalwork. Size: 60mm x 60mm; Weight: 173gProvenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
