BYZANTINE SQUARE SHAPE GOLD PENDANT WITH FLOWER AND CENTRAL GARNET
Ca. AD 700 - 900.A stunning Byzantine gold square hollow pendant. The center is embellished with an eight petalled flower, that is adorned with a central red garnet cabochon. Between the petals are four phytomorphic motifs that fill the corners of the square. The pendant is framed with circular motifs on all four sides. Size: 35mm x 34mm; Weight: 7gProvenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
