RARE PHRYGIAN-CHALCIDIAN BRONZE HELMET WITH NASAL GUARD
Ca. 400 - 300 BC.A very rare hybrid helmet showing design characteristics of both Phrygian and Chalcidian helmets. The looped top of the helmet, hammered from a single piece of bronze, is clearly Phrygian, whilst the nasal guard and crown displays Chalcidian principles. There are very few comparable examples; one from the Bolshaya Bliznitsa burial mound which was lost during World War II, and another kept in the Bulgarian National History Museum.
