ROMAN BRONZE STATUETTE OF CAUTES OR CAUTOPATES
Ca. AD 100 - 300.A rare and quite remarkable bronze statuette of a cautes or cautopates, an attendant of the sun god Mithras. The statuette is depicted wearing a phrygian cap, a short tunic, trousers and a belt. The statuette stands in counterpoise with weight on his left leg, his left arm is relaxed while the right arm is raised.
