New Kingdom, 19th Dynasty, Reign of Ramsess II, Ca. 1279 - 1213 BC.A beautiful jar of utilitarian form, carved from creamy honey-yellow alabaster with opaque white veining throughout. The piriform vessel features a hemispherical base, a smooth shoulder that tapers to form a corseted neckline, and a thick rim surrounding the mouth of the vessel. The body is adorned with two painted registers depicting a Nile scene and papyrus flowers.
