The auction will showcase a wide selection of excellent Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Viking, Medieval, Western Asiatic, and more antiquities ranging from 50th century BC to 15th century AD. The sale will be held at our central London showroom, 63 ? 64 Margaret Street, W1W 8SW, and online via the Apollo Art Auctions platform at 3 p.m. GMT. The wide range of antiquities is coming from the collections of Alison Barker (1951 ? 2021), Mrs. B. Ellison, W. Benson Harer, Drexel Institute, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Nahum Goldmann (1894 ? 1982) Shlomo Moussaieff (1923 ? 2015), Dr. Guido Goldman, (1937 ? 2020). Highlights include, an Egyptian Wooden Bust of Pharaoh with Bronze Cobra, an exceptional piece from the New Kingdom. An Attic Red-Figure Kylix with Central Satyr ? a large example, previously published in Sotheby's London, Catalogue of Antiquities May 17, 1983. A Greek Gold Ring with a Griffon and Hunting a Horse ? Stunning Greek jewellery, an iconic hunting scene and a Stunning Chalcidian Bronze Helmet displaying a vibrant patina and fine detail, worn in ancient Greece during the 4th and 5th century AD. EGYPTIAN FAIENCE PATAIKOS AMULET
New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC.An intriguing depiction of the god Pataikos, the bow-legged dwarf deity. The amulet is mould made from faience and covered in a lustrous blue-green glaze. He stands atop a square base, he has thick arms and a portly abdomen. On the back of the amulet is a small suspension loop. Pataikos is a protective deity in Ancient Egyptian mythology, Pataikos is often depicted as a dwarf with a large head and a prominent belly. He is frequently shown holding knives to ward off evil forces. Pataikos was commonly worn as an amulet by both the living and the dead for protection against harm and malevolent spirits.
