EGYPTIAN FAIENCE AMULET PAPYRUS COLUMN
New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC.An exemplary mold-formed pendant in the form of a papyrus column. The column is characterised by a sizable structure with a gently pointed base, a tiered upper section and a suspension hole drilled through the top of the column. The top and bottom of the column is decorated with leaves of papyrus. The papyrus amulet was a highly favoured item to be placed on mummies and was also seen as a the symbol of fertility.
