LARGE CYPRIOT BICHORME AMPHORA WITH CERTIFICATE OF DIETRICH VON BOTHMER
Ca. 750 - 600 BC. A large example of a wheel-thrown pottery amphora with a flat, circular base, an inverted piriform body with a rounded shoulder, a cylindrical neck with a folded rim, and a pair of thick, arching handles. Several panels with geometric motifs decorate the neck. The body is adorned with coloured concentric bands. Estate of artist Philip Pearlstein (1924-2022), New York, where acquired from the above in the 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This item is accompanied by a letter from Dietrich von Bothmer, 1985. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
