EGYPTIAN BRONZE STATUETTE OF OSIRIS WITH SILVER INLAID EYES
Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A cast bronze statuette of Osiris depicted mummiform, with silver inlaid eyes, standing with arms crossed over the chest, holding a crook and flail. The facial features are finely delineated, with inlaid eyes, a straight nose, and a slight curve to the lips. A plaited false beard extends from the chin. The head is surmounted by the atef crown, comprising the white hedjet flanked by tall ostrich plumes, a central uraeus, and a solar disc resting above. Mounted on a custom-made display stand. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.
