EGYPTIAN ANHYDRITE HEAD OF PRIEST
Mid-Dynasty 12th-13th, Ca. 1844-1630 BC. A naturalistic, carved anhydride head of a male, possibly a priest, displaying a round visage of minimalist features. Gazing out from recessed eyes with elongated outer edges, his face is comprised of a bulbous nose and pursed lips, all surmounted by a sizable bald dome. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Accession Number: 02.4.191. Size: 45mm x 40mm; Weight: 185g Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Collector's Eye, Thalassic Collection. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
