RARE SOUTH ARABIAN STONE STATUE OF A WOMAN
300 - 100 BC. An alabaster figure of a woman depicted standing, dressed in a simple, unadorned gown. Her face is stylized, featuring wide, almond-shaped eyes. Her eyebrows are in relief, her nose is long and straight, and her mouth is small. She has a broad face. Two globular breasts protrude on her chest. Size: 310mm x 120mm; Weight: 8.7kg. Provenance: Private UK collection, acquired on the US art market; Ex. Private Collection, Switzerland, 1970s; Ex. Boisgirard & Associés, Arts D'Orient: Collections Barbier-Mueller and various Amateurs, Hôtel Drouot, Paris, 16 November 2007, Lot 40.This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
