The brass body is finely engraved with bands of inscription and vegetal ornament. A prominent cartouche of elegant nasta'liq script wraps around the upper shoulder, invoking blessings and possibly quoting devotional poetry or supplication, while the field below is densely filled with stylised interlacing floral medallions and leafy sprays enclosed in pointed cartouches. The terminals are fitted with suspension loops through which the original, heavy-gauge brass carrying chain is attached.
