A FRAMED SUZANI TEXTILE PANEL - Possibly Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Ca. 19th - 20th century AD. A suzani textile panel of rectangular form featuring an intricate arrangement of floral motifs embroidered in silk on a deep indigo ground. The symmetrical composition is dominated by large stylised rosettes encircled by undulating vines, serrated leaves, and delicate blossoms in shades of red, ivory, and ochre. The naturalistic scrolling tendrils and geometric framing suggest influences from both Persian and Ottoman embroidery traditions, indicative of the cross-cultural aesthetic that flourished along the Silk Road.Size: 1170mm x 590mm; Weight: 3.1kgProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
