AGKHAND-STYLE WARE CERAMIC CHARGER - Ca. 11th - 12th century AD. A buff-coloured earthenware shallow dish with a slightly everted rim and a flat base. The decoration is achieved through the splashware technique, where green and manganese brown glazes were applied in loose, abstract patterns and allowed to flow and merge during firing. The result is a vibrant, almost painterly effect that evokes swirling vegetal motifs and dynamic movement. The design is further defined by incised lines that create a structured composition within concentric bands, including a central medallion and surrounding spandrels. Repaired, with areas of plaster fill and repainting. For similar see: Al-Sabaj Collection in Kuwait, LNS 352C.Size: 330mm x 40mm; Weight: 1.5kgProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
