Bidspirit auction | A TURQUOISE SMALL-FOOTED LUSTREWARE POTTERY

A TURQUOISE SMALL-FOOTED LUSTREWARE POTTERY BOWL, POSSIBLY SYRIA OR KASHAN - Probably Syria, or Iran, Ca. AD 1200 - 1300 . A pottery bowl of circular form, the deep basin set on four rounded feet, the wide everted rim gently sloping inward to a recessed well, the entire surface covered in a striking turquoise glaze, now with areas of iridescence and encrustation due to centuries of burial. The basin’s surface retains a rich patina, with traces of the original decorative elements visible beneath the glaze. The exterior exhibits a subtly textured surface, suggesting it was shaped using a slow wheel or hand-moulding technique.
