The interior and exterior are covered in a rich cobalt-blue glaze with a subtly mottled effect. The glaze exhibits areas of natural wear and craquelure. The simplicity of the form, combined with the bold use of colour, reflects the aesthetic preferences of Safavid ceramic traditions, which sought to emulate the luminous qualities of Chinese monochrome wares.Size: 185mm x 100mm; Weight: 580gProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
