Bidspirit auction | A KASHAN TURQUOISE GLAZED RIBBED

A KASHAN TURQUOISE GLAZED RIBBED EWER - Kashan, Iran, Ca. 13th - 14th century AD . An ewer of elegant baluster form with a ribbed body rising from a slightly splayed foot. The elongated neck curves gracefully into a sharply angled spout, accompanied by a looped handle extending from the shoulder to the neck. Covered in a vibrant turquoise glaze with areas of natural craquelure and age-related wear, lending a rich patina. This type of ewer, produced in Kashan and other Persian ceramic centers, reflects the advancements in glazing techniques during the period. The ribbed surface, combined with the striking colour, suggests an influence from metalware forms.Size: 255mm x 130mm; Weight: 640gProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
