A PAIR OF SAFAVID-STYLE GOL-O-BOLBOL FOLIOS WITH GILDED BORDERS
Iran, Ca.19th century AD. A pair of Persian Safavid-style drawings of rectangular form, finely executed in ink and gold on paper. It presents elegant figures set against finely rendered floral backdrops. One composition depicts a nobleman seated cross-legged, elegantly dressed with a plumed turban, holding a small cup and a bottle, accompanied by dishes of delicacies. The second panel features two elegantly adorned figures in repose, one gently whispering to the other in a scene of refined leisure. The compositions are framed within rectangular cartouches, bordered by intricate floral designs in gold leaf with delicate birds interspersed among the arabesques, embodying the exquisite craftsmanship and poetic romanticism characteristic of Persian manuscript illumination.Size: 270-270mm x 190-190mm; Weight: 30gProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
