EGYPTIAN ROCK-CRYSTAL QUADRUPED SHAPED PENDANT
Middle Kingdom, Ca. 2055 - 1790 BC. A small amulet carved from translucent rock crystal in the form of a quadruped with a rounded body and short legs. The head is large in proportion to the body, with incised circular eyes and shallow grooves suggesting facial features. A pierced suspension loop rises from the back.Size: 32mm x 21mm; Weight: 11gProvenance: Private London collection; previously acquired from a Belgian collection (1980s-1990s). This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.
