JAPANESE IRON ARTICULATED BEETLE
Meiji Period, Ca. AD 1868 - 1912. A finely articulated iron model of a kabutomushi (rhinoceros beetle), crafted with naturalistic detail. The beetle's body is formed of smoothly polished iron plates, the thorax and horn textured for lifelike contrast. Fully jointed legs and horn allow for dynamic positioning. Size: 60mm x 30mm; Weight: 35g. Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014.
