GROUP OF FIVE JAPANESE TSUBA
Edo Period, Ca. AD 1603 - 1868. A group of five, comprising a pierced iron tsuba with a bold floral design, delicately executed in openwork with flowing curved stems and petals. A round iron tsuba of sakura motif, finely pierced and signed to one side of the central opening. An irregularly shaped iron tsuba with three shell forms, including inlaid gold. A small iron tsuba with a rounded lobed outline, inlaid with fine gold floral sprays and a butterfly. A robust iron tsuba with partial openwork, featuring a stylised landscape.Size: 55-75mm x 40-70mm; Weight: 450g. Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex Christies 16th May 2012, lot 215.
