CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE SNUFF BOTTLE, DEPICTING FISHERMAN IN THE SNOW - Qing Dynasty, Ca. AD 1644 - 1912. > A porcelain snuff bottle of elegant cylindrical form with gently sloping shoulders and a short, slightly flared neck. The body is delicately painted in underglaze cobalt blue on a soft white ground. The decoration depicts a solitary fisherman standing in a winter landscape, quietly angling from the bank or a small craft amid sparse, impressionistic forms suggesting snow-covered terrain and still water.
