CHINESE SMALL PORCELAIN BOX AND JAPANESE KUTANI EWER - Ca. 17th and 20th centuries AD. > A decorative grouping comprising a Chinese white porcelain circular box and cover, and a Japanese Kutani porcelain ewer. The Chinese box is of simple, rounded form, the domed cover molded in low relief with auspicious motifs—likely floral or symbolic emblems—arranged within a circular field. The Japanese ewer, of tall cylindrical form with a straight-sided body, is richly decorated in the Kutani palette of iron-red, gilt, and polychrome enamels. The main register features a continuous landscape scene with flowering plants and stylized rockwork.
