SMALL CHINESE YIXING TEAPOT, SIGNED MENGCHEN 孟臣 - Qing Dynasty, Ca. AD 1644 - 1912. > A teapot of rounded, compressed globular form, raised on a short foot and set with a gently domed cover surmounted by a knop. It has a short, slightly tapering spout and a loop handle. It is potted in reddish Yixing stoneware of slightly coarse texture, the surface displaying natural speckling. On the base is inscribed a poetic line reading “杏花一色红十里” (“Apricot blossoms stretch for miles in a uniform red hue”).
