LARGE NEPALESE BRONZE PHURBU - Ca. 17th - 18th century AD. > A substantial bronze phurba (kila), cast in multiple sections and richly ornamented, surmounted by a wrathful deity head with bulging eyes, flared nostrils, and bared teeth beneath a foliate crown. The fierce expression conveys the power to subdue demonic forces and obstacles within tantric ritual practice. Below the head, the shaft is articulated with a series of symbolic elements, including a vajra motif and openwork prongs, interspersed with baluster-form sections and decorative bands.
