TIBETAN GILDED COPPER ALLOY VAJRASATTVA - Ca. 14th century AD. > A beautiful cast gilt copper alloy figure of Vajrasattva, seated in vajraparyankasana (full lotus position) upon a double-lotus base. The deity is depicted with serene expression and downcast eyes, the face softly modelled beneath an elaborate five-leaf crown, with long, beaded earrings framing the cheeks. The right hand is held before the chest in vitarka mudra, grasping a vajra, while the left hand rests at the lap holding a bell (ghanta), attributes symbolising the union of wisdom and method. The figure is richly adorned with necklaces, armlets, and a flowing dhoti secured with a beaded girdle, the fabric rendered with finely incised folds. The lotus base is crisply cast with layered petals. > Provenance: Private London Collection; Ex.
