LARGE NEPALESE BRONZE VASUDHARA - Ca. 19th century AD. > A substantial cast bronze figure of Vasudhara, the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and abundance, seated in lalitasana (royal ease) upon a double-lotus base. The right leg is pendent while the left is folded, creating a graceful and relaxed posture. The goddess is depicted with multiple arms, each holding attributes associated with fertility and prosperity. One hand is extended in varada mudra (gesture of generosity), while others hold ritual implements, including a sheaf or vessel symbolising abundance. The principal left hand supports a small pot. Vasudhara is richly adorned with an elaborate crown, necklaces, and armlets, the torso sensitively modelled with full, rounded forms characteristic of Nepalese bronze casting.
