CHINESE PALE GREY JADE MAGPIE - Qing Dynasty, Ca. AD 1644 - 1912. > A delicately carved jade figure of a recumbent magpie, the bird shown with its body elongated and head slightly lowered as it grasps a flowering spray in its beak. The plumage is finely detailed with incised lines delineating the wings and tail, while the overall form is smoothly polished, emphasising the gentle contours of the body. The stone is of pale grey tone, subtly translucent, with attractive russet inclusions concentrated around the head and flowering branch. > Provenance: Private British Collection; Ex.
