CHINESE BLACK JADE EAGLE - Ming Dynasty, Ca. AD 1368 - 1644, or earlier. > A finely carved jade figure depicting an eagle with wings partially folded, the bird rendered in a compact, sculptural form. The stone is of dark, mottled tone with lighter inclusions, creating a richly varied surface that enhances the sense of depth and natural texture. The eagle’s head is turned slightly, with a pronounced hooked beak and carefully incised facial features. The wings are defined with shallow relief carving and linear detailing to suggest layered feathers, while the body is smoothly polished, contrasting with the textured plumage.
