CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE PHOENIX HAIRPIN FINIAL - Ming Dynasty, Ca. AD 1368 - 1644. > A carved jade hairpin finial depicting a stylised phoenix (fenghuang) in openwork, the elegant bird shown with elongated body, finely incised plumage, and a gently curved beak. The phoenix is entwined with scrolling foliate elements and lingzhi-like forms, all carved in delicate openwork, creating a light and intricate silhouette. The finial is attached to a slender, tapering shaft, neatly finished with a small perforation at the end. > Provenance: Private British Collection; Ex.
