CHINESE CELADON JADE BRUSH REST CARVED IN BAMBOO FORM - Qing Dynasty, Ca. AD 1644 - 1912. > A carved celadon jade brush rest in the form of a naturalistic section of bamboo, the stone of pale green tone with soft translucency. The exterior is skilfully worked in relief to depict gently curving bamboo culms with incised leafy sprays, the surface further enriched with neatly carved nodes and subtle textural detailing. The lower section is ornamented with a band of raised bosses, providing both decorative interest and tactile contrast to the smooth, polished surfaces. The carving captures the segmented structure of bamboo with elegant restraint, reflecting the lapidary’s sensitivity to both material and form. > Provenance: Private British Collection; Ex.
