MANGBETU TRUMBASH SICKLE KNIFE - Ca. 20th century AD. > A finely worked trumbash knife of elegant, elongated form, attributed to the Mangbetu people. The blade rises in a pronounced forward curve, tapering to a sharp, beak-like point, its profile both functional and visually striking. Two circular perforations punctuate the lower blade. The junction between blade and handle is reinforced with a short projecting tang element. The handle is wrapped in tightly coiled metal wire interspersed with bands of brass, creating a refined geometric rhythm and providing both grip and ornament. > Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014. > > Size: 460mm x 140mm; Weight: 905g > >
