TWO THROWING KNIVES, KOTA OR FANG - Ca. 20th century AD. > A pair of iron throwing knives of characteristic curved form, attributed to the Kota or Fang peoples of Central Africa. Each features a broad, crescent-shaped blade with a forward-projecting cutting edge and a secondary downward spike. The blades are pierced near the upper section and display incised linear decoration. One knife is fitted with a handle wrapped in tightly coiled brass wire, terminating in a pointed finial, while the other retains a simpler wooden grip with a gently flared end. > Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014. > > Size: 200-250mm x 155-180mm; Weight: 300g > This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. >
