EGYPTIAN ROCK CRYSTAL SCARAB WITH SEMA-TAWY AND ANKH MOTIFS IN GOLD SWIVEL RING - Middle Kingdom. Ca. 2055 - 1790 BC. A rock crystal scarab with a domed back carved with an elaborated sema-tawy motif (the symbol of the unification of Egypt), and a flat underside engraved with plaited bands enclosing ankh signs. It is set in a possibly later gold swivel ring with a hoop with three ridges, the shoulders terminating in lotus-shaped inlaid finials. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number EA3824.
