LATE ROMAN GOLD OPENWORK RING WITH CARNELIAN INTAGLIO OF APOLLO - Ca. AD 400 - 500. A gold ring with a broad openwork hoop pierced with rows of small circular holes and decorated with a rosette motif. The high bezel has a fluted underside and a border of bosses framing a carnelian intaglio engraved with a profile portrait of Apollo wearing a laurel wreath.
