STUNNING BYZANTINE SILVER-GILT PENDANT WITH BUST OF CHRIST - Ca. AD 900 - 1100. A silver-gilt pendant with a hinged suspension loop above. The obverse is centred by a roundel enclosing the bust of Christ, with IC XC at the sides, his right hand raised in blessing and his left holding a book. The field outside the roundel is plain, with radiating motifs at the corners. The reverse is decorated with a border of repousse egg shapes and stylised foliate motifs around a plain central field.
