PAIR OF BYZANTINE GOLD PENDANTS WITH ROSETTES AND GRANULATION - Ca. AD 900 - 1100. A pair of gold pendants, each with a diamond-shaped sheet body framed by beaded borders and terminating in clusters of gold granules at the angles. The left pendant is decorated with a central raised boss within a granulated rosette, with further clusters of granules arranged around the border. The right pendant has a central rosette with a raised boss, enclosed by a border of discs and beaded wire. Each is surmounted by a tubular suspension element with a spherical finial and applied granulation. Size: 46-49mm x 40-41mm; Weight: 12.8g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a long-standing private family collection assembled between the 1960s and 2000.
