RARE ATTIC BLACK-FIGURE NECK AMPHORA ATTRIBUTED TO THE LYSIPPIDES PAINTER - TL TESTED - Ca. 540 BC. A black-figure neck amphora attributed to the Lysippides Painter, with an inverted piriform body on a broad circular foot and a tall neck below a flaring mouth. The ribbed loop handles rise from the shoulder to the neck. The neck is encircled by palmettes above rays at the base, and the lower body is decorated with a key pattern above a row of pendant tongues and pointed rays. Side A is painted with a Dionysiac scene, with Dionysos standing between maenads and a satyr, with vine tendrils and hanging clusters of grapes behind. Side B is painted with an armed Athenian taking leave of his wife. She stands at right holding a shield and spear. A crested Corinthian helmet lies on the ground between them.
