LARGE ETRUSCAN BRONZE SHIELD WITH GEOMETRIC DECORATION - Ca. 800 - 700 BC. A bronze circular shield with a slightly domed centre and a projecting stud, the field decorated with concentric bands of punched dots and encircled by a ring of stamped concentric circles. The outer edge is bordered by a fine dotted band. Size: 360mm x 360mm; Weight: 345g Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired on the German art market; Private collection in the Rhineland, acquired on the German art market in the 1980s.
