RARE ROMAN IRON LONG GLADIUS WITH BRONZE SCABBARD FITTINGS - Ca. AD 1 - 100. A long iron gladius with a straight fullered blade tapering to a sharp point and a narrow flat-section tang ending in a bronze domed disc secured by a conical terminal. Accompanying it are four bronze scabbard fittings and a bronze pelta-shaped chape with openwork scrolls and a female head projecting from the centre.
