ROMAN QUARTZ CAMEO OF AN EMPEROR IN GOLD PENDANT - Ca. AD 200 - 300. A quartz cameo carved with the head of an emperor, depicted with deeply set eyes beneath arched brows, short wavy hair brushed back from the forehead, a long straight nose, moustache, and full beard. The cameo is set in a possibly later gold pendant with a raised inner frame, a ribbed outer border, and a suspension loop above. Size: 21mm x 19mm; Weight: 7.6g Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier held in an old family collection formed over the period 1960s–2000.
