BYZANTINE GOLD CROSS PENDANT WITH RED GARNET CABOCHON - Ca. AD 600 - 800. A gold cross pendant with broad arms and rounded terminals. A circular collet at the centre is set with a red garnet cabochon and framed by twisted wire. A suspension loop is attached at the apex. The reverse is flat and plain. Size: 44mm x 34mm; Weight: 4.5g Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier held in an old family collection formed over the period 1960s–2000.
