PAIR OF STUNNING BYZANTINE SOLID GOLD BRACELETS - Ca. AD 1000 - 1200 . A pair of gold bracelets, each with a broad hoop edged with beading and decorated along the centre of the exterior with ropework. The hinged terminals have transverse pin-and-knuckle fittings with globular finials. Each bracelet is surmounted by a large circular plate with a beaded border, decorated in repousse and chasing with scrolling tendrils, birds and leaves around a central quatrefoil motif. Size: 75-75mm x 60-60mm; Weight: 95g Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier held in an old family collection formed over the period 1960s–2000.
