Sefer Tur-Even Haezer with Sefer Drishah U’Prishah by Harav Yehoshua Falk Katz, author of the Sm”a. Renowned to many by the name of his magnum opus, the Sm”a was a disciple of the Rema and Maharshal. He authored one of the most fundamental commentaries on the Tur, a work referenced extensively throughout centuries of halachic works.

First page with the signature of the great Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Itzik Grishaber, rabbi of Paks. With 12 important marginal notations in his hand.

The Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Itzik Grishaber (1741-1822), was a disciple of the Nodah B'Yehuda. He  served as rabbi of Paks (Hungary) from 1782. He exchanged halachic correspondence with the Chatam Sofer who highly praised him in his writings. In 1797, he strongly opposed the reform R. Aharon Choriner who permitted eating the non-kosher fish Acipenser Ruthenus. His correspondence on the subject with the rabbis of the times was printed in his sefer Makel Noam (Vienna, 1799).

 A classic commentary later published in all standard edition of the Tur. The author (ca. 1555-1614) is also known in rabbinic circles as the Drishah after his Halachic works.
